Sara Linderman, MBA ’07, Cert. ’23, passed away Nov. 30 at age 45.
Born and raised in Carmel, Indiana, the daughter of Dr. Richard B. Linderman and Jane Linderman, she was a graduate of Carmel High School, where she excelled at swimming, violin and academics. Linderman earned a B.S. in Business from Wake Forest University and went on to earn an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management as well as a certificate in pre-medical and general science studies from UCLA Extension. She had always dreamed of moving to California, and built her life and friendships in both San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Linderman was as bright as she was adventurous. She had an unquenchable thirst for travel, instilled in her by her parents from a young age. She traveled the world, planning for and taking a personal sabbatical in 2019. She spent time in France, Mozambique, Sri Lanka and the Komodo Islands, where she became a divemaster. Her final stop being in Sri Lanka, she found and adopted her beloved Charlie girl, a sinhala hound that she met while volunteering at the animal shelter. Charlie took her first plane ride, and joined Linderman stateside to be her loving companion. She was a doting and dutiful aunt to her niece Estelle Anne, who is named after her, and nephew, Clark. She was always playful and silly with them.
Linderman was a master of fun, always the one to get the group together for a trip, a party or to teach others how to make an exuberantly shaken martini. She was an accomplished skier and considered the family historian. She was a prolific writer, documenting family trips and important life events that drew the reader in and reminded all of how special we are to one another. She had a gift for forming deep, lasting friendships that stayed with her through every chapter of life.
Linderman followed a dream and pursued her passion for serving others, entering medical school late in life. Her commitment — to her work, her friendships and her family — was rare, and her loss is described as “immeasurable,” in her online obituary. “She will be deeply missed,” it continued.
Linderman is survived by her parents; her brother, Lieutenant Commander Gregory Linderman (Jessica); niece and nephew, Estelle and Clark Linderman; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents.
