Mixed Alumni Association

The UCLA Mixed Alumni Association provides a space for UCLA alumni, their families, future alumni, and the UCLA community to share their experiences, explore, and celebrate mixed heritage identity. The mission of the UCLA Mixed Alumni Association is to build, support, and strengthen a community around mixed heritage identity and build a pipeline from the UCLA mixed student community to the alumni association.

about our network

Recent U.S. Census data shows that multiracial Americans are one of the fastest growing demographic groups in the country. However, mixed race identity is oftentimes left out of conversations regarding diversity and campus climate at the university level. Since 2010, UCLA undergraduate students have organized towards providing an inclusive space for students who identify with more than one race, ethnicity, culture, or nationality. Mixed Student Union (MSU) is currently the only student group at UCLA specifically focused on multiracial/multiethnic identity, and aims to address the experiences and needs of the mixed heritage community.

Former MSU co-director Jenifer Logia hopes to continue the legacy of fostering a community for mixed Bruins through the UCLA Mixed Alumni Association as the association’s founding president. Goals for the organization include building a network of UCLA alumni who identify with the mixed heritage experience, and providing continued support for the mixed heritage community at UCLA through networking, fundraising, and advocacy. The Mixed Alumni Association hosts an annual reunion/mixer event, award an annual scholarship for mixed heritage students, and represent the multiracial community through the UCLA Alumni Association.

Those who are interested in joining the UCLA Mixed Alumni Association can send an email to mixed@alumni.ucla.edu or for more information subscribe to our newsletter. You do not have to be mixed race or multiracial to get involved; anyone who is interested in meeting other mixed alumni and supporting the mixed heritage community at UCLA is welcome to join.

Scholarship Fund

This fund was created to award undergraduate scholarships to students who self-identify as part of the mixed heritage community (e.g. mixed race/multiracial/multicultural/etc.), or anyone that is interested in pursuing studies regarding the multiracial community. Our goal is to to raise enough funds annually to award to one undergraduate student to support their studies each fall quarter.

Operations Fund

This fund supports events, programs and activities of the UCLA Mixed Alumni Association. Operations expenditures include venue rental, catering, and the support of Mixed Student Union initiatives that benefit current students.
